Fr. Gregory M. Goethals, SJ '73
Fr. Gregory M. Goethals, SJ ’73 is the president of Loyola High School of Los Angeles, recognized as one of the premier secondary schools on the West Coast. Fr. Goethals possesses a wealth of experience in Catholic education. Prior to assuming the helm at Loyola, he worked at a number of Jesuit schools including Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix and Saint Ignatius in San Francisco, where he served as superior of the Jesuit community and chairman of the board of trustees.
Following his own graduation from Loyola High, Fr. Goethals received his B.A. from Santa Clara University and studied law for one year at Loyola Law School before entering the Novitiate. As a Jesuit, he holds a Master of Divinity from the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, Master of Theology from the Weston Jesuit School in Cambridge, Mass., and a Master of Counseling from the University of San Francisco. He was ordained in 1988.
