Michael McCracken '86
Michael McCracken currently serves as Founding Partner and Managing Director in both the Investment Banking and Advisory Services divisions of JMB Partners, a Los Angeles-based boutique investment bank. Michael has over 30 years of experience as an investment banker, venture capitalist, as well as an operating CEO/COO & CFO. Following the successful sale of his co-founded UGO Entertainment venture to Hearst Corporation in 2007, Michael launched MCM Venture Partners, a boutique investment banking and strategic advisory firm. MCMVP focused on both early-stage and mid-market companies across multiple industries specializing in entertainment, digital media, advertising and e-commerce. Prior to UGO Entertainment, Michael worked in the Investment Banking divisions of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) in Los Angeles and Salomon Brothers in New York City. As an Associate at DLJ, he worked with Ken Moelis’ Los Angeles based team in advising public and private companies on M&A, debt and equity capital raising and corporate restructurings. Additionally, he participated in various principal investments made by DLJ’s venture capital division, Upfront Ventures, as well as DLJ’s Merchant Banking Group in the media, technology, retail and healthcare verticals. As an Investment Banking Analyst at Salomon Brothers, Michael worked on the Equity Capital Markets desk advising companies on initial and secondary public market offerings. Prior to joining Salomon Brothers, Michael served as the Director of Business Development at Intel Japan in Tsukuba, Japan, reporting to the President.
Michael graduated from Loyola High School in 1986. His athletic career at Loyola included award-winning performances in cross country and track and field. Michael held records that went unbroken for nearly a decade and his jersey was subsequently retired. Michael attended Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service and graduated with a Major in Economics and Japanese, as well as honors in International Business Diplomacy. At Georgetown, Michael was an All-American track athlete and the recipient of the school’s Scholar-Athlete Award. Michael received his Masters in Business Administration from Harvard.
Michael currently lives with his husband Branko in Los Angeles and has served for the last six years as a member of Loyola’s Investment Committee and for the last 2 years on the School’s Board of Trustees.
