Technology at LoyolaOur Vision
Our Core ValuesProducing the highest quality students defines and guides educational professional practice. At Loyola, this practice is shaped and informed by the Ignatian ideal of being a man for others: a just, compassionate, spiritual, and loving leader of the community. Technology holds an important place at Loyola in that it can help students become such Ignatian leaders. As each department does its part in developing men for others by designing challenging programs of study, so too should technology be applied for the purpose of supporting this core value. Therefore, the key to our technology success will depend upon our commitment to using technology for the purpose of serving the subject areas that form the core of the Loyola education. Doing so will require that we recognize the many forms technology can take, and that we apply this array of tools to not only improve the education of our students but also transform it. In short, we believe technology at Loyola should be as follows:
Grad-at-Grad SupportBorn out of the school’s commitment to matriculate students who embody the myriad of traits that define being men for others, the school developed the Grad-at-Grad Guidelines to serve as the areas in which the school could evaluate its efforts in meeting its “men for others” goal. If we hold true to our technology core values, we will advance the school’s efforts to produce such men for others. Specifically, we will see Loyola students using technology to
Our Mission
To prepare its students to be tomorrow’s leaders, the school will provide a diverse and challenging technology environment both at the school and within students’ homes. Loyola will prepare its students to become facile with technology in all its myriad forms, both obvious and subtle, while also ensuring that they become critical, objective observers of technology and its pervasive impact on the world around them. With such a critical understanding of technology, Loyola students will be well prepared to become courageous, compassionate, just, and loving leaders in the Ignatian tradition. |
